New Facebook Page Timelines Are Here
The new Facebook pages should all have an option for you to preview, tour, and learn more about the Facebook page timeline option that has been rumored since personal profiled began rolling out the Timeline feature.
Facebook looks to be giving all Facebook pages a good month to get their house in order, add cover images, adjust settings, and edit what posts are visible on their timeline.
On March 30th, all Facebook pages will automatically convert to the new design.
You can now preview and even launch your page’s Timeline. See Coca-Cola’s Timeline live here. It took us no time at all to add a cover image and preview what our page would look like for Social Fresh. Previews of both Timelines below.
Coca-Cola was testing Timeline last week when users caught screen shots of the brand setting historical Facebook updates to populate their feed.
And if you were wondering how custom tabs were going to convert over… They still work. But now it looks like all Facebook tabs will be canvas tabs, stretching the full width of the page.
See this “Home” page from Coca-cola. The new space available is 850 pixels wide, up from the old 520 pixel width. Old tabs look like, from the examples we have seen, they will be centered on a white background in the new canvas, full-width size tabs.
You will notice in the Social Fresh preview above there is a “message” option prominently highlighting this feature that Facebook started teasing last month. The message button is not featured on the Coca-Cola page, this is a feature that can be turned off in the admin if a business does not have the resources or simply chooses not to respond to personal fan messages.
